Biography
Javier Valdez was born in Moses Lake, Washington, and lives in Seattle, Washington. Valdez earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in public administration from Baruch College, the City University of New York. His career experience includes working for the City of Seattle in a variety of roles, such as leading the Seattle City Light’s women and minority business (WMBE) program and as a senior equity and inclusion advisor with the city's finance and administrative services department.[1]
Valdez joined the Washington State Democratic Party, where he began serving on the executive board. Valdez chaired the 43rd and 46th District Democratic Party organizations. He served as a board member for the Washington State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and as president of Hispanic Seafair and of the Washington State Council of County and City Employees (AFSCME Council 2), Local 21-C. Valdez also was a delegate to the Martin Luther King County Labor Council.[1]
