Jay Sterner Hammond was a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 1959-1965. He was first elected as an Independent and later served as a Republican.[1] Hammond also served as Alaska's fourth Governor from 1974 to 1982. Hammond passed away on August 2, 2005.[2]
