Jean Spradling Hughes was a judge for the Harris County Criminal Court at Law in Texas from 1995 to 2018.[1] She was appointed to the position on November 1, 1995.[2]

Hughes ran for re-election to the Harris County Criminal Court at Law.
Primary: She ran unopposed in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014.
General: She defeated Raul Rodriguez in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 55.2 percent of the vote.[3][4][5]

Hughes defeated Democrat Toni Martinez Ingverson in the general election, winning 57.1% of the vote.[6]

Education

Hughes earned her J.D. from the South Texas College of Law in 1984. She was admitted to the bar that same year.[7]

Career

Prior to her judicial appointment in 1995, Hughes served as a Harris County prosecutor for 12 years.[8]
