Jean T. Schneider
Jean T. Schneider is the supervising judge for the New York City Housing Court of New York County, New York. She was appointed to this court in 1997 and was reappointed in 2008. In 2009, she was appointed to her current position as supervising judge.[1]
Education
Schneider received her B.A. degree from Swarthmore College in 1973 and her J.D. degree from the Yale School of Law in 1977.[1]
Career
Schneider began her career in 1977 as a staff attorney for the Bedford-Stuyvesant Community Legal Services Corporation. She then joined The Legal Aid Society, where she served as a staff attorney from 1981 to 1984. From 1984 to 1987, she was the President of the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys, District 65-UAW. She then returned to The Legal Aid Society as a staff attorney until 1989 and then as a supervising attorney until 1997. That year, she was appointed to the Housing Court.[1]
