Jean Zott is a retired controller, CPA and small business owner. Jean worked for Michigan's largest retail produce company (Joe Randazzo's Fruit & Vegetable, Inc.) for 30 years. She currently owns an accounting and tax practice.

Jean has been married for 35 years and has two children. Jean graduated from Central Michigan University. Jean and her husband have lived in Shelby Township since 2000. Jean & Dan Zott are very active in a number of charitable organizations in their community.

In 2022, Jean started speaking at township board meetings in regard to election integrity and unnecessary ordinances. People started to encourage her to run for office.

Jean researched different offices and learned the Michigan House and Senate lack any CPAs. This is a void Jean wishes to fill. Jean wants to bring her extensive tax, budgeting and regulatory knowledge to Lansing.
  • I want to fight for the Michigan Taxpayer
  • The Michigan budget is filled with wasteful spending, duplicate departments and antiquated programs. Saving the taxpayer dollars in necessary to properly fund Michigander's priorities.
  • Our current tax policy is especially inequitable to retirees. It favors government pensions over the UAW worker, nurses, grocery store clerk and small business owners.

Property taxes are going to tax people right out of their homes. Our current administrations corporate welfare has been a huge failure.

    We can do better.
Tax Policy

Budgeting

Excessive Regulations that are hurting Michigan's growth
People want to be heard. Voters feel helpless. Elected officials need to make themselves available to their constituents and must be able to explain their votes.
I have integrity. If I tell you I am going to do something, I am going to try my hardest. I have courage. I am not afraid to stand up for what is right.
I remember when Elvis died. I was 14. My parents were divorced. My dad took me and my siblings on a trip to see a woman he was dating, and she was sobbing the entire time we were visiting.
At 12 I started delivering newspapers, baby-sitting and cleaning houses. My first W2 job was a children's shoe store in high school.
People have to work together. If they are not even listening to the other side of an issue, the divide will continue to grow.
If I am successful, I am representing my district. I am a republican, but I can't ignore the views of the other party/parities in my district.
Of course. Governor Whitmer overstepped during Covid. My mother was in long term care. I had a hospice exemption and saw what was happening. Nobody wanted to know. Nobody wanted to help. We failed our seniors and our care workers.
Tax reform on the retirement income deduction.
Tax Policy

Appropriations

Economic Development and Small Business
Our current administration has failed the voters on transparency and accountability.

The legislature recently presented the budget bill in the middle of the night for a vote.
The taxpayers and the entire legislature did not have time to read it. I don't believe the Democrats had time to read prior to voting on it.
Don't they want input for their own constituents.? Everyone says they hate pork spending, but the budget is again filled with it.

We are failing at the expense of the taxpayer. We can do better.
