I am a Mom to three successful adult children. All three decided on a different route towards being self-sufficient, the first took on a Trade who now manages a plumbing department for a local company and is a Husband and Father, the second served our country in the Navy, currently utilizing his GI Bill to become a school teacher while working full time and recently bought his first home and the third is a College student securing a degree in Science while working a full time job.
Since moving to Myrtle Beach, SC from Elyria, Ohio in 1990, I have worked in a variety of fields offering mentorships and/or management in the Tourism, Financing, Boating and Property Management industries. I currently hold an executive position on the Self Storage Association of SC and Manage a Premier Storage and Business Centre in Myrtle Beach. In 2020, I received my certification as a Life Coach. Though SC does not require certification, I thought it important to take the training in order to offer guidance and solid planning assistance to those who have hit road blocks and are in need of a fresh perspective. Through the last 30+ years, it has been an honor to work for some outstanding people and to be chosen, in that time, to be the person to help grow and better their businesses and lives.
- I will work tirelessly, keeping secure our rights as American citizens and uphold our Constitution
- I am a trustworthy candidate whose moral compass will always point back to The People
- Being united with my constituents is the first step towards creating a better tomorrow, for all of us
I am passionate about finding ways to improve our economic standing, answering the call to our many infrastructure needs and revamping our social service programs.
We have a population that is growing rapidly and it is important that we fast track getting some relief to District 7 by eliminating the obstacles that prevent us from offering the best of the best to our citizens. We need jobs, roads, bridges, schools, hospitals and a structured exit plan for those that fall on hard times.
I am inspired by Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump. Both Presidents have colorful backgrounds and many questioned whether it made sense for them to enter politics and ultimately become President. It did make sense and because they didn't let anyone derail their journey, they became 2 of the greatest Presidents of our time. It is my goal to continue the work that both started during their presidencies, reminding Americans that they have the ability to reach as high of a goal as they wish to set for themselves. Both knew that America is the greatest nation in the world and that our freedoms are unmatched by any other. As Americans, we should hold our heads up high and encourage one another towards the promise of reaching and achieving The American Dream.
Servitude is essential for any elected position. We are selected by our peers to serve the needs of The People, to humbly fulfill our duties. The expectations of the voter will be that we are trustworthy, willing to tackle difficult situations shouldering full responsibility for the outcome and have the backbone and willingness to fight for their cause. A good representative is someone that is similar to you, someone that understands what it is like to walk a mile in your shoes. The principles that an elected official has should be reflective in their behavior and leadership; are they leading you where you want to go? Our Constitution lays out the duties of each government office but it is up to us to portray our worthiness to our constituents. We must be inspiring, courageous and give back more than we will take.
I am a honest woman that has years of experience with problem solving. I have a unique ability to peel back the layers and inspect the root causes. I care very much about end results when seeking solutions and I possess the needed common sense to determine if the worst case scenario is more than we can bare when making decisions to go in one direction or another.
Like all of you, I too am a resident of District 7. It is also where my entire immediate family lives, not to mention long time friends and their families, and I know that what I do in Congress will affect each one of us, not just today, but for generations to come. Failure to produce is not an option for me, failure to take responsibility is not an option for me, failure to not uphold our Constitution is not an option for me, failing The People of District 7 is not an option for me.
The legacy that I would like to leave behind would entail the great strides that we will make in improving our economic stance, infrastructure and revamping our social service system. It is my hope that we look back in time and remember the Representatives elected who worked together, who closed the gap that divides us, who helped create a better life by making America self-reliant and once again had more people working and prospering than ever seen before. Let this be the year that goes down in history, where elected officials fulfilled their duties to The People, who were part of what secured America's stance as the most powerful country in the world, respected and admired by all others who seek greatness.
The first historical event that I remember was the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan. I was in the 5th grade and remember TVs being rolled into the classrooms for us to watch the aftermath and updates.
My first major job was with Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in 1990. While working in the wild a wacky world of Robert Ripley, the foundation of my leadership abilities formed. I started in the ticket booth and waving down tourist to encourage them to purchase a ticket to tour the museum. From there, I worked my way up into a supervisory position that I held until I left in 1997 after the birth of my third child.
My favorite book is The Stand by Stephen King. I remember one winter, sitting in the ticket booth at Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, someone had left the book under the counter. I took it out and began reading it. It took a long time but it wasn't the last time I read it! Good vs Evil with a deadly cold.
Katniss Everdeen from Hunger Games. She volunteered as tribute to save the life of her sister and then went on to concur all that was wrong with the world she lived in.
The last song stuck in my head was Nobody by Casting Crowns. My favorite part of the song, and the part that gets stuck in my head goes like this... Moses had stage freight, David brought a rock to a sword fight, You picked 12 outsiders nobody would have chosen and you changed the world. The moral of the story is, everybody's got a purpose.
House Representatives wear many hats. They can arrange tours of The Capitol, connect their constituents with proper government offices and personnel to help solve problems, they draft legislation and debate it on the floor then pass legislation for the betterment of the people. A Congress member is a helpmate to their constituents and a unique type of middleman for all issues that Americans face. It should be considered not only a duty to serve the constituents but an honor that is not taken lightly.
I do not believe that it is beneficial to have experience. In fact, I think that it is more beneficial to The People to have Representatives that are focused on issues facing their district without the distraction of what the next political move will be. When you have someone that is fluent in political strategies, you risk decisions being made that might not be to the benefit of The People but to that of the Representative. We have to much of that already. It is time that we mix things up a little bit and get back on track focusing solely on The People and not our political careers.
The division that exists in America grows more complicated by the day. Between footing the bill for citizens and corporations all around the country to fighting racism accusations and the constant demand that The People should, without comment or question, except whatever they are force-fed, we have our hands full. In today's society, the first amendment is challenged more than I have ever seen in my lifetime. We have the right to determine where our happiness lays, which liberties we choose to participate in and to pursue a just life. Practicing the rights we were born with does not require an approval from anyone, it is YOUR rights that you are utilizing. If we can not get to a place where we agree that we disagree, without recourse, we are going to have a difficult time accomplishing much, that can't be our future.
There are 3 committees that I would be honored to serve on. Homeland Security is an important committee considering the mess at our boarder and what the repercussions of such a lax boarder policy might mean to us in the very near future. I believe I have enough compassion and common sense to help create a plan for protecting Americans from any danger that they might face. The second committee that interests me would be the Ethics committee, for what I think are obvious reasons. We live in a society where ethics are being tossed out the window and we can not continue down this path. We must hold accountable anyone and anything that does not produce what is fair and just. Lastly, the committee for Natural Resources is right up my alley. Putting America back on the path of self-reliance is a must. Understanding the resources at our disposal and how to best utilize them to our benefit will give us the financial freedoms we deserve. We were on our way to self-reliance before the rug was pulled out from under us and I would be honored to help get us back on tract.
I believe that two years is an inadequate amount of time to serve in Congress. As it stands, you get one full year to dedicate yourself 100% to getting good legislation passed then you spend the next year campaigning hoping to get another shot at it. I went to a seminar not so long ago and the speaker was talking on the pros and cons of multi-tasking. The main thing that I remember him saying was, if you are not completely focused on a task, you are not giving it 100%. With that analogy, during year two of your term, you will be hard pressed to give 100% all the time and that is not good for the American people.
When I think of those that have served over the years, I can't help myself but to be in complete awe of our Founding Fathers. Those are the truest of Representatives. They risked everything to serve and protect America and to fight for freedoms that kept us free from government overreach. In today's era, there are strong voices but they are over shadowed and smothered out by Democrats and Socialists that currently hold the majority vote. I am particularly excited about the drive that I see in our junior Republican Representatives this cycle. They may not get their legislation to the floor (yet) but they are making sure that everyone is fully aware of the atrocities that the Democrats and Socialists are trying to push through in their legislation. I like their grit. That is a characteristic my constituents can expect to see from me as well.
Sitting at an impromptu meet and greet I had the pleasure of speaking with a gentleman about a factory he manages. Due to the lack of willing applicants, after he had to let everyone go due to Covid restrictions, his company faced a severe back log on their part of the manufacturing process. On a particular stressful day he received word from his supplier that they would not be able to get him some needed materials due to their staffing issues. With his frustration levels high he went out onto the floor to see what they could do with the material they had, because this was a make or break order for his company, and realized that the new guy was gone. Asking a long time employee where the new guy had gone he was told that he never came back from his lunch break. The manager had his fill of bad news and unleashed some unwarranted frustrations out on his long time employee and stormed off. The day ended with no one speaking to anyone. That evening the day had gotten the better of the manager and he got in his car and drove an hour to his long time employees home. With his head hung low, he knocked on the door. When his employee answered he all but dropped to his knees and asked that his behavior from the day be forgiven. The employee put his hand out to him and said, "boss, what you face, I face. Never forget that we are in this together and I will not abandon you. "
It reminds me that we all have a wits end and when we reach it, it is important to be surrounded by the people that can look past a behavior and see the person standing there.
Baby polar bear asks his dad one day, "Papa Polar Bear, am I 100% polar bear?" "Why yes you are baby polar bear, I'm 100% polar bear and so is mama polar bear" said Papa Polar Bear. Not convinced, baby polar bear goes to the den and asks his mama, "Mama Polar Bear, am I 100% polar bear?" "Why yes you are baby polar bear, my parents are 100% and your papa's parents are 100% polar bear" said Mama Polar Bear. Baby Polar Bear plops down on the floor of the den and lets out a sigh. Mama Polar Bear asks, "Why are you wondering if you are 100% polar bear?" Baby Polar Bear responds saying.... Because I'm FREEZING!!!! My kids dreaded me telling that joke when they were little, they said it was a dorky joke but hey... it's funny to me!
Compromise can be necessary in order to reach a desirable agreement. It has been awhile since there was give and take in Congress and it is time we get back to serving all People and not just The People of your party. When both sides of the aisle are faced with needing legislation passed to accomplish good things for their districts, it is important that we weigh out the pros and cons, taking into consideration whether the changes are Constitutional and whether or not they benefit the many instead of just a few.
