Jeanne Ellen LaFazia is the chief judge of the Rhode Island District Court.[1] She was appointed to the court in 2002 by Governor Lincoln Almond (R). In February 2010, Governor Donald Carcieri (R) appointed LaFazia to the position of chief judge. The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved the nomination.[2][3]

LaFazia received a B.A. from Boston University and a J.D. from Suffolk University.[4]

Prior to joining the bench, LaFazia was the managing partner of the firm Gunning and LaFazia.[2]
