Jeannie Cole was the Zone III, Position 7 representative on the Fort Smith Public Schools school board in Arkansas. First elected in 1997, Cole won a new term in the by-district general election on September 19, 2017.

Cole graduated from Harding University in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in music education. She moved to Fort Smith in 1980. She began serving with the PTA in 1985, and served as the Arkansas PTA president from 2001 to 2003. Cole also served as secretary of the board of managers of The Hope Chest and as a member of CoMend, the Mayor's Task Force for Youth Violence, the Department of Education Citizens Review Committee for Benchmark Testing, the Center for Effective Parenting Special Advisory Committee, Arkansas Healthy Schools, and the Child Health Advisory Committee and Great Expectations / A+ Schools Assessment Advisory Committee. She also co-taught Bible classes at her church, sang with the Fort Smith Chorale, and was a member of the League of Women Voters. Cole has represented the Arkansas School Boards Association at the Federal Relations Network Conference in Washington D.C. on multiple occasions. She and her husband have two children.[1]

Two seats on the Fort Smith Public Schools Board of Education in Arkansas were up for general election on September 19, 2017. Incumbent Deanie Mehl did not file to run for re-election to the at-large, Position 2 seat, which left it open for a newcomer. Greg Magness was the only candidate to file to run for the seat and was elected to the seat. In her bid for re-election to the Zone III, Position 7 seat, incumbent Jeannie Cole ran unopposed and won another term.[2][3]
