2016

Bonnell's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[8]

Michigan income taxes

  • Excerpt: "The Michigan’s Personal Income Tax is too high. The Michigan working class is being treated like personal bank accounts that the State can continually make withdrawals from. Too few are paying too much."

Reducing government

  • Excerpt: "I support reducing the size of our government. Too many politicians, aides, agencies, people on the government payroll. There is too much over regulation in our businesses and our daily lives."

Senior support

  • Excerpt: "There are too many people gaming the system, taking away crucial resources and funding from our seniors who earned and deserve those benefits. Why should illegal immigrants, drug users, people capable of working but who refuse to work, etc., receive “cradle to grave” tax payer benefits when our seniors, who have worked most of their younger lives and were promised these benefits keep receiving less and less?"

Veterans

  • Excerpt: "We hear a lot of 'thank you for your service' from the Democrat party, while at the same time, they cut our benefits, convolute our medical requirements while at the same time give BILLIONS of dollars of aid and relief to illegal immigrants and 'refugees.'"
