Jeff Fassett
W. Gordon "Jeff" Fassett is the former Nebraska state Director of Natural Resources. He was appointed to the position, effective August 3, 2015, by Gov. Pete Ricketts to replace former director Brian Dunnigan, who had resigned in December of 2014.[1][2] Fassett retired on February 28, 2020.[3]
Biography
Fassett is a registered civil engineer in the states of Wyoming and Colorado. He began his career in public service in Wyoming, serving as the deputy state engineer from 1984-1987 and the state engineer and chief water resource official from 1987-2000. Prior to his appointment to the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources, Fassett worked for HDR Engineering, Inc. as the director of their Water Rights Strategic Program.[1]

Fassett began his tenure as the director of Nebraska's Department of Natural Resources on August 3, 2015. Upon being appointed, Fassett said, "I look forward to applying the knowledge gained from past experiences in this new capacity... Nebraska shares some similarities to the State of Wyoming, and I look forward to building a strategy for the department and the State of Nebraska."[1]

On June 18, 2015, Gov. Pete Ricketts announced that Fassett would head the Department of Natural Resources, effective August 3, 2015. Fassett replaced acting-director Jim Schneider, who had been temporarily occupying the post since December 7, 2014.[4]
