Campaign themes

2016

Ferguson's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Healthcare: Ferguson has a vested interest in fighting for affordable healthcare. As a father of a special needs child, Jeff understands the importance of having coverage for every individual. While the State House of Representatives finally passed a bill requiring insurance companies to cover children with autism, Oklahoma was one of the last states to do so. This shows the priority of the failed Republican leadership at the Capitol. Jeff will stand up for Medicare and Medicaid, to ensure our seniors have the best medical access Oklahoma can provide. Oklahomans need affordable healthcare to keep our families and neighborhoods safe and healthy.
  • Budget: Ferguson is fed up with the lack of leadership at the State Capitol. Oklahoma is in an economic crisis and things are only getting worse. The current Republican leadership continues to pass irresponsible fiscal policies that are hurting hard working Oklahomans. Despite this, they have turned our budget into a mess. Legislators are refusing to fund core government services, which are harming our schools and middle class citizens. Without a change at the State Capitol, Oklahoma will continue its downward spiral. We need a Representative who will fight for everyday Oklahomans, not lobbyists and corporations.
  • Education: Ferguson has personally seen the struggles public schools are facing. As a father of children within the Mid-Del public school system, he has seen the decline that is occurring. The Republican leadership is not properly funding our schools. They are continuously forcing our best teachers to move across state lines to higher paying positions and adequately funded classrooms. We need a leader who will stand up for our children and teachers, ensuring they are well supported.[1]
