Interview to fill board vacancy
Miller was first appointed to the board to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Mike Hirsch. Prior to his appointment, he was interviewed by the school board about the school's mission statement, critical issues facing the district, and his personal qualifications.
He said he endorsed the district's mission statement to "provide an excellent education and engage, challenge, and inspire all students to pursue their full potential. ... I will always support that and truly believe that is the role of the school district in the community." Miller identified state-mandated funding limits, curriculum changes, and teacher retention as critical issues to the district.[1]
He said he would relinquish his paid position as a basketball coach with the district and, instead, volunteer in that role.[1]
