Campaign themes

2014

Mullins' campaign website highlighted the following campaign themes:[4]

  • Job Creation & Economy
Excerpt: "West Virginians deserve more job opportunities. As someone who has created many jobs, I know what it takes and understand the challenges that other job creators face. Fewer people work in West Virginia than any other state in the country. We must change that. We need tax, legal, and regulatory reform in West Virginia if we are ever going to reach our full potential. We must control government spending so that we can lower taxes. We must make our courts more fair. Finally, we must enact common sense regulation. I see every day the difficulties that small businesses encounter, and I think I could help out from day one to create more jobs in West Virginia."

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
