Primary: He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014.
General: He defeated Kay Morgan in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 54.3 percent of the vote. [1][2][3]

Shadwick defeated incumbent Dion Ramos in the general election for the 55th District Court, winning 55.3% of the vote.[4]

Education

Shadwick received his B.A. degree in history from the University of Kansas in 1978 and his J.D. from Baylor University in 1981.[5]

Career

Shadwick started his legal career in Kansas as a commercial litigation attorney, specializing in the oil and gas industry. He then moved to Texas and joined the Houston law firm of Winstead, McGuire, Sechrest & Minick, working in the bankruptcy section. He became a shareholder in that firm in 1991. He was appointed to the district court in 2007. After losing election to that position in 2008, he returned to private practice, working with the law firm of Andrews, Myers, Coulter & Hayes until his 2010 election to the district court.[6]

  • 1999: State Pachyderm “Meritorious Service” Award, National Grand Order of Pachyderms[6]
