In information submitted to Ballotpedia, Sumerel outlined his political philosophy and campaign themes:[2]

  • "To explore the possibilities and potential of implementing the purest form of representation for the people of the 4th District of South Carolina."
  • "To test the theory of pure democracy, by executing a plan and stance that in part, will offer the first political candidate in U.S. history who will express no opinion during the election, and if elected, during his entire term in Congress. Honestly."
  • "To activate and offer to the public an online “voting” system that would be a key component of the representative’s operation to test the theory of pure democracy. In short, this system will allow every matter brought to vote in Congress to be determined by the majority of those in the 4th District."
  • "To provide the public with a new perspective and choice in the electoral process."
