Biography

Jeff Ulrich was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He received a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Michigan State University in 1978, a master's degree in recreation from Michigan State University, and a master's degree in forestry from Oregon State University. His professional experience includes working for the U.S.D.A. Forestry Service. He has been associated with Smith Valley Baptist Church in Smith, Nevada.[1]

I am a born-again Christian running as a Republican for the Nevada State Legislature. I am 67 years old. My wife and I have been married for 28 years and have raised six children. I have earned three university degrees: a B.S. in biochemistry, an M.S. in recreation, and an M.S in forestry. I am retired from the USDA Forest Service, having served in many roles ranging from firefighting, to systems analysis, to administration over 38 years. In short, I have gained education and experience that have been tested and honed by the trials of life, hard work, and God's eternal wisdom. I believe the role of government should be relatively simple as expressed in the Bible (reward those who do good and punish evildoers) and the Declaration of Independence (secure God-given unalienable rights for the citizens of this Nation). If elected I will do my best to use the Word of God in all cases to discern right from wrong and good from evil. I will then support only what I believe is right and good according to the God of the Bible and oppose everything else.

  • The strength of our Nation depends on the strength of the traditional natural family consisting of one man and one woman married and raising their children as designed by the God of the Bible.
  • I am a voice to restore and protect our God-given unalienable Rights and oppose folly in Nevada's government.
Truth and morality as defined by the God of the Bible.

Protect and restore the traditional family as the best place to raise children to healthy adults.
Abortion is murder.
Remove all LGBTQ worldview instruction and preference in public schools and teach only truth. Teach the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Federalist Papers at junior and senior high school levels.
Repeal all judicial law and discipline judges who create judicial law; restore our constitution.
Socialism is proven dangerous folly.
Support freedom of speech, religion, the right to bear arms, and an honest free press.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. - That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,
Jesus, who is God, came to earth as a man to be our perfect example of how we should live. Then, knowing we could not live up to His example, he willingly died for our sins. He paid the price for us. We need ...repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21) and we can spend eternity with God instead of in hell. As born-again Christians, we strive to be more like Jesus (Ephesians 5:1) every day, knowing in our own power we will never be able to attain that goal.
The Bible, the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Federalist papers that defend the Constitution. The Bible declares God's eternal truth and absolute morality and the role of government. The other three documents take God's perfect wisdom and outline how our government is to work and explain why it should work based on the experiences of nation-states in Europe.

Government is about protecting, freeing, and enabling its citizens to be all they can be. The radical concepts on which our great nation was founded are as follows:

 1. We are citizens, not subjects (socialism would make us subjects).
2. Our unalienable rights come from God; our rights should not come at the whim of the State (socialism).
3. The fruits of one's labor belong to the one earning them. Socialism would take the fruits of one's labor and distribute them to others who do not work.
I have God's truth and an understanding of His absolute morality. I have no political ambitions other than for Nevada and the nation to have the blessings of God.

I am a student of history and know that a failure to understand history dooms us to repeat history's great mistakes. For example, the rise in an interest in socialism is due to a failure to understand the history of socialism. History has shown that our capitalist republic works. History has also shown that socialism does not work and in fact comes with a high cost to human life, freedom, productivity, and financial solvency.
My favorite book is the Bible. Through the Bible, I understand the absolute truth, morality, and purpose for my life. The Bible is how God has revealed Himself to us and His plan for us: His creation. The Bible is the best selling book on the planet. God took 1,500 years to write the Bible so no man could boast in it. It is documented by over 5,000 ancient manuscripts, which is three times more than any other ancient text. Many prominent atheists have set out to disprove the Bible as foolish superstition only to come to understand the truth of the Bible and become born-again Christians themselves.
While previous experience would help one understand the personalities involved, develop working relationships, and acquire power and status within the legislature, these are not the most important attributes of a legislator. Understanding God's truth and absolute morality along with the issues of the day that are limiting the God-given unalienable rights of citizens are the most important attributes a legislator should have.
Not give in to the politically correct culture that believes that people are good enough, wise enough, and intelligent enough to resolve all issues about how we should live (humanism). Instead the challenge is to restore God's truth and absolute morality in our nation.

As people, we are naturally sinners who rebel against God's perfect truth and morality given to us for our own good. Humanists reject God's ways for their own ways, thinking people are naturally good and wise. Consider the many socialist movements of the 20th century founded on humanism principles (such as the Nazi and Communist movements) whose goal was to create utopia. While utopia seems like a noble goal, in these examples it turned out to be a very empty promise. In the end, leaders murdered over 100 million of their own country's men and women while creating only chaos, poverty, strife, and injustice. God's perfect eternal wisdom in determining right from wrong and good from evil is the only way to lead any society.

The ideal relationship between the governor and legislature occurs when they have a common understanding of the purpose of government. The God of the Bible describes government's role rather simply: to reward those who do good and punish evildoers (Romans 13:3-5). The authors of our Declaration of Independence used this concept and outlined the following purpose for government:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. - That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,

Politics should be about securing God-given unalienable rights for the citizens of Nevada and this Nation. It should not be the art of trading favors. The ideal relationship between the governor and legislature is they all understand, agree to, and work toward attaining God-given unalienable Rights for the citizens they represent.
