I am Jeff Werner, a Republican candidate for the NC State Senate - District 13.

I am a center-right common-sense fiscal conservative who supports the US Constitution and has worked on National Defense and Weather Systems in Strategic Sourcing. I have negotiated and managed millions of dollars of federal contracts, generating significant savings for the taxpayers. Many of my friends and associates are Democrats but we are always able to talk and find common ground because responsible government works for everybody.

I will bring a fresh perspective based on common sense to the NC State Senate.

  • 1. The Economy - High Inflation and low wage growth are greatly affecting many people across my district and this state on a daily basis. There is much fear for the future out there now. I have called for the both the Governor and the Legislature to repael the State Gasoline Tax for three months to provide NC taxpayers some relief now
  • 2. Education It is a sad state of affairs when half our State Budget goes to EDucation and way too many students cannot read on level. Both the Govenor and Lesislature need to hold the leadership the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (Catherine Truitt) to task for this with formal consequence if they do not improve classroom proformance. I do not support 1619 or CRT in our NC schools. We do not teach college elective classes to elementary school childen.
  • 3. Health Care - Regarding expansion of Medicaid. However, before this is enacted, North Carolinians need to best understand the long-term cost of this implementation. I have repeated asked my current State Senator this question and have never been given any answer. Regarding Abortion, let us see how the Supreme Court will rule on pending cases first.
I am very concerned about the way people with medically diagnosed mental illnesses are treated in NC. It is now time to change the law to treat those who suffer from diagnosed mental illnesses the same way we treat people suffering from cancer. We will continue to treat these patients until they are cured or no longer needed.
My heroes are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan.
I am a succesful business leader who has capably led Supply Chain, Contracts and Proposal departments with oversight of $100M in contracts annually. I also managed research and resolution of contract/subcontract and export regulation issues.
My very first job was delivering the weekly Pennysaver news in my hometown. I had this job for one and half years until the company went out of business.
The Governor and the leadership of the Legislature need to meet every week to discuss future policy and the effects of current events.
