Jeff Wood was a 2016 Libertarian candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 8th Congressional District of Michigan.[1]

Wood was a 2014 Libertarian candidate for District 22 of the Michigan State Senate.[2][3]

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent Mike Bishop (R) defeated Suzanna Shkreli (D), Jeff Wood (L), Maria Green (G), and Jeremy Burgess (Natural Law) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Bishop faced no opposition in the Republican primary. Melissa Gilbert (D) withdrew from the race prior to the primary, but still appeared on the primary ballot. She was replaced by Shkreli on the general election ballot.[4][5][6][7][8][9]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. John Chirkun defeated Gary McMenamin in the Democratic primary. Jeff Bonnell defeated Art Blundell in the Republican primary. Les Townsend ran as a U.S. Taxpayers Party candidate. Chirkun defeated Bonnell and Townsend in the general election.[10][11][2][3]
