Campaign themes

2014

Fietek's website highlighted the following campaign themes:

Minimum Wage

Fietek believes people should be paid enough to live. Many families and individuals are working beyond full-time yet cannot make ends meet, while the companies they work for reap in the profits. Too many companies keep their employees poor, so that they have no other choice but to seek government assistance. Jefferson will work to make sure that individuals receive a fair wage.

Jobs
Though the MN unemployment rate has shown steady improvement over the last few years (www.bls.gov/web/laus/laumstrk.htm), there is a lot more work to still be done. We want to find ways to encourage and help people get back to work. Part of this can come from helping make sure that training and education are accessible to citizens to help them be more qualified or step into a new career track. We need to build an even stronger economy which will encourage companies to expand their workforce.

Education
As an educator, Fietek understands the importance of good education and directly sees the issues in our schools. Fietek wants to make sure that students are receiving an education that sets them up for adult success. He wants to make sure that schools are safe so that students can focus on learning and keep classroom sizes manageable to help insure learning.

Political Gridlock
As a private citizen, when you are hired to do your job you do it – or you are fired. However so many of our Politician’s use excuses not to get their job done. Fietek wants to get past the excuses and the petty disagreements between the parties and focus on getting the work done for our communities.[2][3]
