A Jefferson Joint School District No. 251 Tax Levy question was overwhelmingly defeated on the May 21, 2013, election ballot in Jefferson and Madison Counties, which are in Idaho.
If approved, this measure would have authorized the Jefferson Joint School District No. 251 impose a supplemental property tax levy of $1 million per year for two years to fund quality teaching staff, safety and security enhancements, textbooks and other instructional supplies and other maintenance and operation costs of the district.[1]This is the districts first supplemental tax levy and thus will cause an increase its total tax levy rate by about $1.11 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.[2]

Shall the Board of Trustees of Jefferson Joint School District No. 251, Jefferson and Madison Counties, Idaho, be authorized and empowered to levy a supplemental levy, as permitted by law, in the amount of $1,000,000 (One Million dollars) each year for two years for a total of $2,000,000 (Two Million dollars) for the purpose of retaining and attracting quality teaching staff, enhancing the safety and security of school children and employees, and purchasing textbooks and other integral supplies and services related to public education for the fiscal years beginning July 1, 2013, and ending June 30, 2015? IN FAVOR OF authorizing the levy in the amount of up to $1,000,000 each year for two years AGAINST authorizing the levy in the amount of up to $1,000,000 each year for two years[1][3] |
