Jeffery "Jeff" Davis was the District 4 representative on the Wichita Public Schools Board of Education in Kansas. He was first elected to the board on April 3, 2007, and resigned on September 11, 2017, because he moved out of the district.[1] Davis won re-election in April 2011 and on April 7, 2015. His last re-election, however, was not intentional.

Davis initially filed to run for a third term in the 2015 general election, but announced in March 2015 that he would not be campaigning for the seat. He stated at the time that he did not know his opponent, Joshua Blick, was going to file and that he would not have sought re-election if he had known. Davis' decision not to run, however, came after the deadline to have his name removed from the ballot. Therefore, his name appeared on the ballot, and voters choose him over Blick by a margin of almost 2,000 votes.

Before the election, Davis stated, "We’ll see what happens in the election. I don’t think I’ll win. If I do, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. But I am not actively campaigning for the position."[2] On election night, Davis announced, "I will do what the voters want and I will serve my four years." He also said that after that he would be done serving on the school board.[3]

Three seats on the board of education were up for election on April 7, 2015. District 3 incumbent Barbara Fuller was the only incumbent running unopposed. At-large incumbent Sheril Logan faced challenger Michael Capps. District 4 incumbent Jeffery Davis faced challenger Joshua Blick. Davis unofficially withdrew from the District 4 race after the deadline to remove his name from the ballot. Despite this, Davis still won the election, as did fellow incumbents Logan and Fuller.[5]
