Jeffery Wayne Kelley is the Republican Place 3 judge on the 12th Circuit Court in Alabama. He was initially elected to the court in 2004 and re-elected in 2010. Kelley ran for re-election unopposed in 2016, winning another term on the bench.

Biography

Kelley attended Troy State University for a B.S. and the Jones School of Law for a J.D. He spent the first 13 years of his career as a lawyer for an insurance company. For the next 14 years, Kelley ran a private practice.[1][2]

Noteworthy cases

Andre Ellis Case

Judge Kelley presided over the Andre Ellis case, who was accused of raping two women in Troy, Alabama. Because the prosecution withheld evidence critical to the defense, Kelley dismissed the conviction and sentences brought by the state.[5]
