Jeffrey Arlen Spinner is a judge of the Suffolk County Court in New York. He has served in this position since 1999, following his election. He was re-elected in 2009 to a term ending in 2018. He was also appointed an acting justice of the Suffolk County Supreme Court in 2006 and has served as an Acting Judge of the Suffolk County Family Court since 1999.[1]

Education

Spinner received his B.A. degree from Ithaca College (1981) and his J.D. degree from the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.[1]

Career

Spinner began his career in 1986 as a clerk for the law firm of Hayt, Hayt & Landau. He then worked for Barbaccia & Rerisi (1987-1988), Howard Lee Schiff P.C. (1988-1989) and Green & Kleinman P.C. (1989-1991). He then served as a small claims arbitrator for the Suffolk County District Court from 1991 to 1997 and as an arbitrator of the court from 1993 to 1997. He also worked as a private practice attorney from 1993 to 1997 and, in 1993 and 1994, served as an instructor for the New York Institute of Technology.

Spinner's judicial career began in 1998 when he was appointed to the Suffolk County District Court. The following year, he became a county court judge and an Acting Family Court Judge. He also served briefly as a judge of the Family Treatment Court in 2003 and as an acting judge of the Family Court of New York City. In 2006, he was appointed an Acting Supreme Court Justice.[1]
