I am a former three-time, first African American, Student Government President:
1. Colgate University – Hamilton, New York 2. Cardinal Hayes Catholic High School – Bronx, New York 3. St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Middle School – Manhattan, New York
As it relates to community involvement, I served on the Manhattan Community Planning Board as an appointee by David Dinkins, New York City’s first African-American mayor.
In the Orlando I have been a community coach for youth for two decades, engaging with them in athletics, recreational and educational activities. I co-founded a football and cheer program and founded an AAU basketball program, went to a Super Bowl and several AAU and YBOA state basketball championships. I was named “Coach of the Year” in back-to-back seasons in the Mid-Florida Football Conference, which spans from Tampa to Jacksonville with 64-team teams.- I intend to increase financial support for a variety of educational resources, including teachers’ salaries, pre-K and early childhood education, tutoring, student programs and activities, free community college and student loan debt relief.
- Tax benefits for companies to invest and hire and create jobs, funding for job training, housing and healthcare.
- More Funding to Improve Police-Community Relations, Maintain Safety and Reduce Crime: Increasing educational, community resources and employment opportunities can help to reduce crime. Reducing crime can also help to reduce tension in police and community relations; just as much as accountability can. I will seek funding to invest in improving police-community relations with educational, social, recreational, and sports activities that can bring police, community leaders, parents, youth, young adults and residents together with the hopes of creating better relationships.
