Jeffrey Hjelm
Jeffrey L. Hjelm was an associate justice on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He was nominated to the court by Governor Paul LePage (R) on May 7, 2014, to replace Jon Levy. Hjelm's appointment was confirmed by the Maine's Joint Standing Committee on Judiciary on July 24, 2014.[1] Hjelm retired in December 2019.[2] To learn more about this vacancy, click here.
Hjelm previously served on the Knox County Superior Court and the Maine District Courts. He was initially appointed to the Knox County Superior Court by Governor Angus King (I). He was appointed to the Maine District Courts by Governor John McKernan (R).
Education
Hjelm received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College and his J.D. from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law.[3]

- 1992-1998: Judge, Maine District Courts
Prior to becoming a judge, Hjelm worked as an assistant attorney general and worked in private practice.[4]
