Campaign themes
2010
Martin's campaign website listed several main issues:[2]
- Job creation - "As State Senator, my focus will be on helping all Maine businesses create and grow good jobs but I’ll pay special attention to our small businesses, which all too often get overlooked when the legislature is considering adding new law."
- Welfare Reform - "...the cold hard reality is that we cannot pay for these programs if we don’t grow our economy and create good jobs. We cannot tax and spend our way to prosperity."
- Government spending - "Maine’s entitlement programs are very generous at the cost of underfunding of education, infrastructure and public safety. We must continue to help the Mainers in need but make sure our hearts aren’t bigger than our wallets."
