General: He was elected in the general election on November 5, 2013, with 32.6 percent of the vote. Julia Malloy-Good, Patrick Carmody were also on the ballot, competing for two open seats.

Sommer earned his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and his J.D. from the Widener University School of Law.[6]
