Appointments

2020

Governor Ralph Northam appointed Hudson to the Virginia State Corporation Commission on June 9, 2020. Commission members are normally elected by the Virginia General Assembly for terms of six years, but a lack of agreement by the Virginia State Senate and the Virginia House of Representatives on the commission appointee meant that Northam was tasked with the appointment. Hudson was appointed to a limited term ending 30 days after the start of the next Virginia legislative session, which began on January 13, 2021. The Virginia General Assembly approved the appointment and elected him to a term ending on January 31, 2026.[1][2][4]
