I am a second generation native Floridian, born and raised in North Miami Beach. I currently live in Davie, with my husband and two boys. My academic background spans journalism, marketing, and law. From my earliest days of practicing law I have fought for those who can't fight for themselves by doing criminal defense, as well as helping young women receive a judicial bypass for an onerous process for their reproductive rights. I am currently a co-chair of the Juvenile Justice Committee for the Broward League of Women Voters, and work as an advocate in the community helping disenfranchised citizens regain their voting rights.
  • Congressional representation is a TERM OF SERVICE and NOT A CAREER
  • No corporate money. Period.
  • Three key areas that should never be for profit: healthcare, public education, and corrections
My top three campaign issues:

Medicare for All (single-payer)
Green New Deal (environmental AND economic JUSTICE)

Criminal justice reform (abolishing for-profit prisons and decriminalization of marijuana)
Thurgood Marshall. He is the ultimate example of courage, with the intelligence to back it up. He stood up for civil rights over and over again. And if he got knocked down, he would stand up and do it again.
A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn. It should be required reading in high school. Until you have learned history from the perspective of the conquered, you haven't learned history.
I would love to leave office knowing that I made it easier for all people to be involved in the political process. I would love to get all private money OUT of the system, and create publicly-financed elections.
The 1976 Bicentennial. I was 5. I also very specifically remember when Sandra Day O'Connor became the first woman on the Supreme Court. I was 10.
My first job was at Lombard's Sporting Goods in North Miami Beach.
Representatives have the most opportunity to connect with constituents on a regular basis. They are the people that should most accurately reflect the values of their constituents. It is the "People's House".
It depends on the experience. I think that life experience and the ability to connect with people is equally important. I do think that it is important to have an understanding of policy and how it relates to governance.
Climate crisis is the single biggest threat to human existence on the planet. In the United States, we also have a significant challenge to restore any semblance of representative democracy, wherein our government works for the collective, and not just an elite few.
No. This is the reason that representatives end up spending half of their terms running for re-election. I believe that longer terms would allow for more time to focus on actual legislation.
I support term limits. With 2-year terms, I support a limit of 4 terms, or 8 years. I believe that 2 terms, or 12 years, is sufficient for Senate.
Bernie Sanders. I have been a fan of his since he was in the House. There is nobody in Congress with the same amount of consistent integrity and honor.
