The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Christy Levings was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Jene Vickrey was unopposed in the Republican primary. Vickrey defeated Levings in the general election.[5][6]

Vickrey won re-election in the 2012 election for Kansas House of Representatives District 6. Vickrey ran unopposed in the August 7 Republican primary and ran unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[7][8]
2010
Vickrey won re-election to the 6th District Seat in 2010 with no opposition. He was also unopposed in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[9]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Vickrey was re-elected to the 6th District Seat in the Kansas House of Representatives with no opposition.[10] He raised $26,849 for his campaign.[11]
