I am a small business owner, parent to 4 children, and spouse to my wife of nearly 16 years. I am also a transwoman and member of the Libertarian party. I grew up in a Midwest Republican household, but as I grew and gained more experience, my political alignments shifted, along with the understanding of my own personal identity. This sentiment is a pillar of my campaign; that we can and should change and grow when presented with new perspectives. I am a resident of Altoona and businesswoman who truly believes that the time has come for our elected officials to put people over party. I am currently a registered member of the Libertarian party, but my campaign team is made up of members from across the political spectrum – Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and individuals who are unregistered and unaffiliated. I am running because I believe in listening and learning from all who have a stake in this election.
  • I’m running for because you matter. You are not just Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, Black, white, Latino, Asian, gay, straight, transgender, or cisgender. You are individuals and YOU matter. You are the small business owners in our communities, the teachers in our schools, the friendly faces at the grocery stores. You are the community, you are the voters with the power. You deserve a listening ear from those you elect, and you deserve laws that protect your freedom, not detract from it.
  • I’ll be the first to admit that I am not a polished speaker or politician. I’m just a person like you that knows that action is necessary to create and sustain the community we want for ourselves and families. If you’re looking for someone who says all the right words at the right time, that’s not me. I may even occasionally drop an “f-bomb.” I may fumble over words when I’m passionate about something.
  • As a small business owner in the medical industry (insert details) and a transgender woman who believes strongly in individual rights, our state must focus on the health and safety of all. This past year has revealed many of the deep disparities in how we govern and provide health services, insurance, and options for individuals and families. We have also experienced the divisiveness in our state and country as it involves safety and law enforcement. I believe that we have the ability to listen, learn, and enact legislation that fosters a healthier, safer state, allowing and trusting that we as individuals can and should make the decisions that impact us without the overreach of our governing bodies.
-The need for transparency and options in healthcare is more apparent now than any other time in recent history.

-The safety of all individuals and officers is a priority in this campaign, fostering transparency and restoring integrity in relationships between law enforcement and Iowans.
-Education should be accessible for each individual family, regardless of gender, orientation, ethnicity, religious background, socio-economic status, with the federal and state money following each student to the setting that provides the most support for their academic, social, emotional, and cultural needs/preferences.
-LGBTQ+ Iowans have the right to pursue healthy, safe, and full lives, surrounded by understanding and mutual respect.

-I fully support decriminalizing and legalizing marijuana for medicinal and recreational use in our state.
Depending on the role I am in, the person I look up to is different. As a parent, I look up to my father. He sacrificed everything for his kids. As a business owner, I look up to Mark Cuban. He runs successful businesses and uses his wealth to try to help others chase their passions. As a politician, I look up to Justin Amash. He stood up repeatedly for the people against even his own party. He eventually left that party and become a Libertarian
The core responsibilities is to make the lives of their constituents better off. They do this by putting the needs and desires of the citizens over their personal believes.
I would like to leave a legacy of voting down the most laws that over-reach the powers our Founders inteded. I want to ask the question "what gives us the right to make this rule?" with each law before I vote on it.
9/11 was one of the most significant events to happen in my lifetime. I was in high school during this attack. I remember watching it in disbelieve in each class I attended. Watching the first responders rush into certain danger to help people and put their lives at risk to save lives of others began my desire for public service. This planted the seed to eventually joining my local volunteer fire department and getting trained as a firefighter 2 and paramedic.
I was cook at Greek restaurant in Iowa, Greek Islands. I learned how to cook and properly shave Gyro meat, I also learned to appreciate all greek cuisine. I worked there for about a year while I was in high school.
I listen to books on audible all day while I drive. My favorite so far has been The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Currently I'm listening to the Wheel of Time serious.
I'd have to say Princess Leia. She was pivotal in trying to help the rebels defeat the Empire. She never gave up. Plus she got to explore the galaxy.
From Now On from the Greatest Showman
I believe one of the greatest challenges is returning power back to the people. Every level of government has grown to control all aspects of our lives so much that most cannot foresee how we could survivie without someone telling us what to do. I think showing our state wil be better off as our government decreases will be a challenge and will only be harder as federal government continues to try to grow and take more power.
I may be interested in running for other offices later on but my only focus today is to run for Iowa House. I do not plan to use this position as a rung on a ladder of personal power or personal advancement.
I fathered 4 kids and most "dad" jokes are still near and dear to my heart.
Compromise is essential to making everything better for the future. No single person can choose whats the best path for everyone. I believe that listening to multiple different points of views and trying to find a win/win solution is the way to go.
