Jenks Public Schools Elections

General election date:
February 9, 2016
Enrollment (13–14):
11,181 students

One of the five seats on the Jenks Public Schools school board was scheduled for general election on February 9, 2016. The seat of Ward 1 incumbent Tracy Kennedy was up for election; however, Kennedy was the only candidate to file for the race.

Due to the lack of opposition, the election was canceled and Kennedy was automatically re-elected.[1]

This unopposed race marked the fourth consecutive canceled school board election for the district. The elections in 2013, 2014 and 2015 were all canceled due to unopposed races, as well. However, a bond issue worth nearly $1 million was on the ballot. In order to pass, bond issues required a super majority of 60 percent.

A runoff election could have been held on April 5, 2016, if no candidate won a majority of votes cast in the general election. Candidates had to file affidavits of candidacy between December 7, 2015, and December 9, 2015. The voter registration deadline for the general election was January 16, 2016.
