I am a Mom, business owner and community advocate. I have served in my community on the Adair Park Today Inc. Board, Metropolitan Coalition, founder of Murphy's Crossing Coalition and founder of Myrties Talks (A support group for woman of color).
  • No one left behind! District 12 will no longer be seen and not heard.
  • Council Members should have good communications, show up for their constituents and be accessible.
  • People not POLITICS! We have the ability to change the trajectory with your vote on November 2nd.
Community Question Featured local question
It is highly important for me to involve residents. I would be hired by the citizens of District 12, which to me means I work for them. I need and want them to be involved with the things that are happening in District 12 and in Atlanta as a whole. I plant to have better communications. I plan on mailing newsletters to our Seniors because everyone does not use email. I also plan to have more social media presence. I plan to have District 12 community update meetings quarterly.
Community Question Featured local question
I would address crime first by making sure that PAD( Policing Alternative and Diversion Initiative) has the funding they need to be efficient and expand their services. I would also work with the public safety department to insure a more community first approach to policing.
Community Question Featured local question
Marijuana is used for so many medical needs from pain to anxiety. We must follow the other cities in our Country and decriminalize marijuana.
Community Question Featured local question
I believe we can do better with our transit system. Adding more rapid transit and holding true to the word of our government to have Light Rail on the Beltline. Transit broadens our options, equability and connects us to more opportunities, so it is important for us to do it with an intentional thought.
Community Question Featured local question
In Southwest Atlanta we struggle with a lot of sewage and water issues. We have seen in certain parts of the city, they have what is called Pervious Pavement, which would help absorb water. I plan to get more sidewalks (focusing on Pervious Pavement), Focus on sidewalks especially on the south side of our district and give the south side of our district parks. We have many infrastructure issues, so I also plan to allow the constituents of District 12 to vote on what infrastructure improvements we can do with our annual District 12 budget by creating a Participatory budget.
I am passionate about community development. I want to see our community become economically stable and I believe we can be when we have transparency on what happens with our districts annual funds. I am also passionate about safety. I was mugged and assaulted at one of our parks in December of 2017. I instantly thought about "What if this was one of our seniors?" The young man and I, fought in the park and I walked away pretty banged up. Safety has to be our priority. We must make sure that cameras are working and we have to change policing to be more community first oriented.
City Council possesses the ability to be in direct contact with the citizens of Atlanta. This important because you don't have to guess what is on the citizens mind, they can connect with city council almost instantly. It also possesses the ability to create legislation focusing on our immediate surroundings, therefore instantly impacting our community.
I have so many empowered, smart, magical, consistent, entrepreneurs, community builders family and friends that I feel inspire me and push me. I look up to all of them for direction and assistance. I believe most people are looking for a well known name, but these local people are my heroes and have guided me through some very monumental moments in my life. These are my tangible hero's, who I can call on day or night.
Transparency and Ownership. Have the ability to be transparent with your constituents and take Ownership for what you can have the ability to change.
I would like to leave the legacy that a City Council Rep. actually left no neighborhood behind. I want it said that Jenne' Shepherd affected every neighborhood in our district in a positive and effective way.
I remember 9/11, I was 24 years old. I remember my son being three years old and because they showed the planes going into the buildings for weeks and so consistently, I remember my son (which was 3 years old at the time) not wanting to take a plane ride because of his recollection of that event. It took some heavy convincing to get him on the plane that year.
My first job was with Burger King and I also worked at my High School doing filing and answering phones. I worked for Burger King for 2 years and I worked for my school for 3 years. (I worked both of those jobs at the same time)
I don't think people understand how much of an impact City Council has on created and influencing local laws/legislation.
No I don't. I believe we should have more "regular people" community advocated and leaders running for office. They will help better define the needs of the people.
The best skills to me are a person who knows how to organize, quick to listen and slow to speak, passionate about doing research to solve the problems we are facing. Understand how to support neighborhoods and neighborhood associations and have made connections in other parts of government.
I'm a Female.

Fe= Iron
Male= Man

Therefore I am Iron Man.
