Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a parent and teacher with 30+ years in education. I am a proud resident of San Juan Capistrano. My neighborhood borders San Clemente, Capo Beach and Dana Point. I am proud of our area and its amazing heritage. I have worked with students in all grades TK-12. I've taught in a variety of educational settings: public, private, homeschool and public charter school. My husband is a long-time middle school Math teacher at Capistrano Unified School District. He has taught there for almost 30 years. We have been married for 33 years and are the proud parents of two adult children and a 5 year old Fox-red Labrador Retriever.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Academics above Agendas: I want to realign our school board with the values of our constituents. I will work to remove political agendas from the classroom and get back to strong academics.
• Safety in Schools: Failing discipline policies and political agendas are creating chaos in our classrooms. I will examine the discipline policies at CUSD and ensure that every classroom is safe for students, teachers and parents.
• Parental Involvement: Sacramento has been enacting laws that remove parents from key conversations regarding their children's social, emotional, mental and physical health. I will fight these policies and work to make sure every parent at CUSD is included in every aspect of their child's education.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Public Policy should work to serve the citizen, making their lives better - not making the citizen the servant of the government. I am a firm believer in small and limited government. The bigger the government gets, the smaller the citizen gets. I am passionate about bringing policies to the school board that will create safety in the classroom, stop wasteful spending, and keep parents included in every conversation.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I am a strong leader and excellent team player. I am good at listening and receiving the thoughts and opinions of others and asking clarifying questions. I work hard to reach the best outcome for any team on which I work. I would fight to be the best representative on the Capo Unified school board for my constituents.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

I believe it is the responsibility of any elected official to represent and fight for the values of the constituents who put them in office.

What is the primary job of a school board member in your view?

The job of the school board trustee is to ensure that school districts are responsive to the values, beliefs and priorities of their communities.

Who are your constituents?

Citizens of Dana Point, Capistrano Beach, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano. Included in my constituents are the 43,000 students enrolled in Capistrano Unified and their parents.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

Republican Party of Orange County, all 5 board members of the Orange County Board of Education, Assemblywoman Laurie Davies, CUSD Trustees Judy Bullockus and Lisa Davis.
