I am running to be the next State Representative for District 66 because the decisions that are

being made at the statehouse affect all our lives and the lives of those we love. My opponent is largely absent from our community and is unaware of what everyday life is like for the average Hoosier. The people of District 66 deserve a Representative who is accessible and knowledgeable about the kitchen table issues that we face every day. I am dedicated to addressing the critical issues facing our district, from improving education and healthcare access to fostering economic growth and sustainable infrastructure while keeping taxes low and the money local. I am the best candidate for this job for many reasons. I hold a bachelor’s degree in social work, master’s degree in special education, post graduate work and Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I am a mother, grandmother, wife, and owner of a disability service agency. I also serve as the Secretary for the Indiana Statewide Independent Living Council (INSILC), am an active member of several local and regional business organizations and nonprofits and serve as a board member at my church. I work to build relationships throughout the state by networking with families, community members, other providers and community organizations to increase and strengthen local supports, services, and resources. My work and my reach extend throughout Indiana, allowing

me the opportunity to learn from and share ideas and resources
  • I have major concerns about the proposed changes to Indiana’s High School Diplomas which overly emphasize immediate employment. Preparing students for the workforce is important. However, we must not lose sight of the broader goal of education: to ensure students have the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a wide variety of paths, including college and technical schools.
  • I support residents’ calls to keep tax dollars low and decisions local, while also funding and supporting community services such as EMS and fire services, safe roads and communities.
  • I want to continue to advocate for families to ensure that they have access to medical care and services through the Indiana Medicaid system.
The individual must be honest, knowledgeable about the issues, and have the ability to work alongside others that may not have their same goals in mind.
The core responsibilities of someone elected to this office include representing the interests and needs of their constituents, crafting and voting on legislation that serves the public good and ensuring accountability and transparency in government. They should actively engage with the community, communicate effectively, and advocate for resources and policies that benefit their district. Ethical conduct and sound financial management are also essential to maintain public trust and effectively serve the community.
The first event that I remember is the Space Shuttle Challenger exploding. I was 13 years old.
The ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature is one of collaboration and mutual respect, where both work together to serve the best interests of the people while maintaining a balance of power.
One of the greatest challenges for Indiana over the next decade is breaking the supermajority in the legislature to ensure more representative governance. Additionally, developing a plan to stabilize Medicaid is crucial. Another major concern is keeping taxes affordable for all Hoosiers, as rising taxes could place unnecessary burdens on residents.
I believe that it is not necessary to have experience in government or politics.
Yes, building relationships with other legislators is essential for working effectively to improve the lives of Hoosiers. As a business owner and advocate, collaboration is key to ensuring progress. I have already started fostering connections with current legislators across Indiana to strengthen this effort.
While there are several legislators I admire, I am my own person and intend to forge my own path, just as I have throughout my life.
As an active advocate in my district’s communities, I hear countless stories from citizens, each of which is deeply meaningful. I am especially moved by the families I meet who have a loved one with a disability and are unaware of the state-funded assistance available to them.
I believe the legislature should have the authority to oversee and grant the use of emergency powers.
As a family member of multiple persons living with disabilities, I am appalled that our most vulnerable citizens have been left behind by the current administration. There is not enough being done at the state level to connect families with information about support and services and how to access them. One of my priorities is to ensure adequate funding for these services and to author a bill to mandate that all children with an IEP or 504 plans will receive Medicaid Waiver programs information annually. I would also like to see the administration reassess the drastic cuts to medically fragile children and adults due to the recent billion-dollar budgeting debacle now suspected to be a case of Medicaid fraud and cover up.
I am particularly interested in serving on the Family & Children Services Committee, Ethics Committee, Health & Provider Services Committee, and the Education & Career Committees. These areas align with my passion for improving the well-being of Hoosier families and strengthening education and healthcare services.
Transparency in all forms is the most needed item that our government should be working towards. Without financial transparency citizens are not aware of how their tax dollars are being spent and what the government is doing for them.
Concentrating all the decision-making power in the hands of the Republican super majority does

not reflect the common sense and balanced government that Hoosiers deserve. By allowing local
ballot initiatives, voters can have more autonomy and local control rather than decisions being
made by persons whose values and interests may be very different than the people and
community whose lives are most affected by the issues at hand.
Statewide initiatives can serve as a platform to bring awareness to broader public issues,
encourage civic engagement, and lead to creative and innovative ways to deal with real
problems. Complex issues that affect all our lives should be presented to voters in a way that is
straightforward and transparent. This can allow for shared accountability for the decisions being
made and can also reduce the chances that last-minute backdoor deals and private interests can

influence or change proposed laws as the supermajority in control is prone to doing.
