I am a Colorado-born, single mother of two and retired military office who has dedicated my career to serving my country and my community. From my first job shelving books at the local library, throughout my military career and as a voting rights advocate and community organizer, I have dedicated my life to the public good.

My career in public service has given me a depth and breadth of experience unique to our region and critical for our district. As a military officer, I learned how to grow and lead large and diverse teams towards common goals and how to communicate higher-level policy decisions to those who are impacted. As an engineer, I managed multimillion-dollar government contracts and was presented with national-level awards for being an effective steward of the taxpayers’ money. As a diplomat and staff officer at the US Embassy in Paris and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, I learned the art of finding common ground between parties with vastly different priorities and perspectives. And as a voting rights advocate, I learned the hard truth that more than 200 years into our American democracy, we still have a lot of work to do to ensure all people have equal protection and representation under the law.

That's what I mean by principled and pragmatic politics for our district.

  • I want to help create pragmatic solutions for Colorado families, particularly in the areas of housing, transportation and the environment.
  • Having sworn to protect this country and our democracy, I want to bring civility, maturity and true public service to political office.
  • This race is about protecting the planet, my community and our democracy for our children and generations to come.

Education
I'm a huge admirer of Elizabeth Warren. Her positive vision of what America could be if we all came together to tackle the challenges we're facing is a breath of fresh air in modern politics. I respect that she doesn't talk about problems without talking about solutions. She always comes to the table with practical ideas that would help the people who need it the most. That's the kind of representative I want to be.
Elected officials need to know how to put service before self, principles before politics and to strive to represent every voice in their community with integrity and respect.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Colorado

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
