|My career in public service has given me a depth and breadth of experience unique to our region and critical for our district. As a military officer, I learned how to grow and lead large and diverse teams towards common goals and how to communicate higher-level policy decisions to those who are impacted. As an engineer, I managed multimillion-dollar government contracts and was presented with national-level awards for being an effective steward of the taxpayers’ money. As a diplomat and staff officer at the US Embassy in Paris and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, I learned the art of finding common ground between parties with vastly different priorities and perspectives. And as a voting rights advocate, I learned the hard truth that more than 200 years into our American democracy, we still have a lot of work to do to ensure all people have equal protection and representation under the law.
That's what I mean by principled and pragmatic politics for our district.
- I want to help create pragmatic solutions for Colorado families, particularly in the areas of housing, transportation and the environment.
- Having sworn to protect this country and our democracy, I want to bring civility, maturity and true public service to political office.
- This race is about protecting the planet, my community and our democracy for our children and generations to come.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
