I have lived in Weare for 30 years. I graduated from John Stark and my husband and I have raised our family here. Currently I work in the financial services field at a small, family owned wealth management firm where I am the compliance and operations manager. This community has my heart, as do the people in it. I will always prioritize truth, transparency and fiscal responsibility. I will fight to keep our taxes low and to protect the freedoms that we all hold dear.
  • I will fight for quality eduction and fairness in education funding in NH.
  • I will fight to expand access to mental health care and Substance Use Disorder rehabilitation.
  • I will fight to raise the minimum wage in NH to a fair, living wage.
I am passionate about all issues that face Granite Staters, but my main area of focus is education funding. Good schools help everyone. If you have good schools, your property values go up, and your town will be more attractive to businesses and people considering a move to your area. As State Representative, I will support and contribute to the work that is currently being conducted by the NH Commission to Study School Funding, further examine tax equity and promote the idea of an independent commission to study the cost of an adequate education in NH. A NH Supreme Court ruled in 2019 that the current funding to districts by the state is unconstitutional. I will fight for fair education funding in NH.
One of my favorite people in political history is Eleanor Roosevelt. I remember reading so many powerful quotes from her that it drove me to learn more. I would love to follow her example. She was an amazing person, inside and out, who showed grace to all people. Her sincerity and acceptance of people no matter their privilege or race made her an endearing figure.
The most important characteristics for elected officials are honesty, transparency, and the willingness to listen to and thoughtfully consider concerns from constituents. I also believe that a foundation of leading with respect and willingness to work in a bipartisan fashion is important, especially in today's political atmosphere.
I've been a registered undeclared since I was old enough to vote, and believe everyone has a voice that should be heard and fairly represented. I am open minded and I pride myself on my ability to empathize with multiple points of view and have respectful conversations. While I am open to respectful communication, I hold firm in my dedication to always do what I feel is right.
My very first job was at a pizza place in Weare. It was take out only. Those who have been in town for a while might remember Y Not Pizza! That is where I worked, and I stayed there until I graduated high school.
American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. It's my favorite song to crank up and sing to on my way home from work!
No. I think that New Hampshire's history of having a legislature made up of ordinary citizens from varying backgrounds who aren't professional politicians is a point of pride for our state.
Solving the education funding dilemma is one of the top challenges facing our state currently. This issue goes back decades and we still are unable to define what an "adequate education" is, much less how much is costs to provide it.
The obstacle of raising the minimum wage in NH is another challenge we are facing. It is contributing to the affordable housing crisis in our state. NH is the only state in New England that has a minimum wage under $10. With bordering states offering a higher minimum wage, it is straining the labor pool because NH residents are traveling across the border to make a living wage. oyment in NH was below 3% since 2015, so employers were competing for an already limited workforce.
I believe that an independent, non-partisan commission should be hired to draw the district lines in the state. It should not be done by either party. It should be based on population and
