Perkins began her career as a law clerk to the Honorable James O. Browning in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico and practiced with the law firm of Browning & Peifer in New Mexico. She then worked at the Arizona chapter of the Institute for Justice and as disciplinary counsel at the Arizona Commission on Judicial Conduct. She was also of counsel with Mandel Young PLC. Directly before her appointment to the bench, she served as an assistant solicitor general in the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
