Jennifer R.S. Detjen is a judge of the California 5th District Court of Appeal. She assumed office in 2010. Her current term ends on January 8, 2035.
Detjen ran for re-election for judge of the California 5th District Court of Appeal. She won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.
Detjen was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and her appointment was confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments on August 6, 2010. Detjen replaced Steven Vartabedian who retired from the bench on May 31, 2010.[1]
Education
Detjen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.[1]
Career
After graduating from law school, Detjen served as a deputy district attorney in Madera County. Three years later, she became senior deputy district attorney for the Fresno County District Attorney's Office. In 2001, Detjen joined the Superior Court of Madera County and served in this capacity until appointed to the California Fifth District Court of Appeal in 2010.[1]
