I am not a career politician, I am a career educator who is beyond upset with what our state legislature has done to public education. I have spent 28 year as a teacher and administrator in Marion Co. Schools and I am doing this to fight for children and teachers. I am highly sensitive to poverty rates in our state in particular when it affects children and the elderly and want to work on ways to break those cycles and the foundation of that is in education. I am also a huge supporter of family farms, if we don't have farms we don't eat. If elected I vow to work for the working class citizens of our state.
  • Education is the foundation of all economics for our state.
  • Agriculture - if we don't have farms we don't have food.
  • Caring for our Elderly and Children
Anything that relates to education, poverty, food insecurity, industry and agriculture.
My greatest hero's were my grandparents, they along with my parents taught me the value of hard work, prayer, and family.
I am honest, caring and kind but am willing to get down in the weeds and do the hard work needed to advance our state.
The Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster
I was 12 and home from school on a snow day. My little sister and I were setting in the living room floor watching the launch and playing cards on a stool that set in between us.
As a teenager I babysat for neighbors and helped set tobacco for neighboring farmers.

During college I worked daycare and as a resident assistant in my dorm.

I was hired to teach Family & Consumer Sciences at Marion Co. High School in July of 1995 and have worked in Marion Co. Schools since.

I have also taught classes for EKU on the side.
The Harry Potter Series - I read these with my children so they will always hold a special place in my heart.
Amazing Grace
It is my favorite song both because of the meaning behind it and because it reminds me of that little country church where I grew up setting between my grandparents or great aunt and uncle.
Yes. To truly make things happen legislators from both sides need to be willing to work together. It seems that in recent history everything has become so polarized that they cant seem to do this. This is one thing that I hope to change if elected.
Yes, we have got to get back to being willing to hear our neighbor out and work together.
