Jenny Brekhus
Jenny Brekhus was a member of the Reno City Council in Nevada, representing Ward 1. She assumed office in 2012. She left office on November 15, 2024.
Brekhus ran for election for Mayor of Reno in Nevada. She lost in the primary on June 14, 2022.
While the city council is a nonpartisan body, Brekhus is a self-described Democrat.[1]
Biography
Brekhus earned her B.A. in classic civilizations from the University of California, Berkeley. She went on to earn an M.S. in public administration and an M.S. in community and regional planning from the University of New Mexico.[2]
From 1993 to 1996, she as an associate planner for the city of Albuquerque, N.M. She then worked for three years as the planning director for Silver City, N.M., before spending a decade as the senior planner of Reno. Since 2009, Brekhus has been self-employed as a land use and community development planner.[2]
Brekhus and her husband, Armando, have one child.[3]
