I am a nurse who has worked for over a decade in emergency medicine. After starting as an EMT and working my way up to a Trauma Certified Nurse I have experienced first hand how gaps in our health care system have impacted many different areas of our lives. I have seen the reality of food insecurity, home insecurity and gun violence up close. I have sat and cried with families as they face the most difficult days of their lives, made only more stressful by the looming question of how to pay for their care. I am running to represent the 51st District in Springfield because I believe real world experience has value when it comes to making decisions that will affect everyone in the state of Illinois. I have made a career of running towards the problem when human instinct is to take cover. I am ready to go to work to advocate for a better system for my patients, my family and my community.
  • As a nurse I know how to navigate chaos. My education and experiences have trained me to be level headed and seek solutions during some of the most stressful moments in life. Often those moments require being able to bring people together so the right people are ready and able to jump in when their expertise is needed. In these days of divisive politics, I am someone who can bring people together. I do not want to represent only one party in the district. I will be a representative for all.
  • Healthcare should not only be affordable, it should be accessible. These days even if you have insurance you still may not have access to the doctors and services you need. I want to work to make the system work better for those it serves as well as those who work within it. I will work for legislative solutions to ensure healthcare resources are available and accessible when you need them.
  • Now more than ever, we need our state and local government to work for us. Those in elected positions are public servants who should be focused on fighting for the members of their district. Every member of our district should feel secure in their rights and know that their elected officials are working for them. Even before announcing my candidacy I have been out in the streets, proudly holding signs during peaceful protests. I have attended Township, Village, and School Board meetings to speak and advocate for others.
Affordable and accessible healthcare for all who seek it. Reliable and safe childcare. Resources for aging adults to live independently and on their own terms long into their retirement years. Green initiatives that preserve the environment as well as create new jobs. Protecting the rights of all including the immigrant community and LGBTQ+ community.
