Jensen Jennings is a dedicated public servant and advocate for positive change. Born in Los Angeles, California in 1989, Jensen earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Education from the University of California, Davis in 2014.

Following his graduation, Jensen worked on California State Senator Ben Allen's successful campaign, assisting with press releases and other duties. In 2015, he was hired as a legislative aide for State Senator Steve Glazer, where he played a key role in guiding bills through the legislative process. During his time in the California State Senate, Jensen developed a strong passion for addressing issues related to education, homelessness, affordable housing, and access to healthcare.

In 2019, Jensen relocated to Aiken, South Carolina to support his mother. He spent a year working for Aiken Parks in 2022, further deepening his connection to the community. Currently, Jensen works for Walton Options, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve independence. Through his work, Jensen continues to demonstrate his commitment to serving others and creating a more equitable society.

With his extensive experience in politics, community service, and advocacy, Jensen is well-equipped to represent the people of Aiken and champion their needs in the South Carolina State House.
  • Bringing the right jobs to Aiken; jobs that will continue to employ humans for years to come.
  • Prioritizing multi-generation collaborations to help strengthen Aiken.
  • Reform education to meet the needs of all students.
Education, homeliness, affordable and accessible housing, mental health and public transportation are a few of the issues I find that need our attention the most.
I look up to my dad, who was a compassionate and empathic man. Each day, I try to employ those qualities of compassion and empathy, because I believe most people just want to be understood and heard. As far as historical figures, I look up to Abraham Lincoln, FDR and Robert F. Kennedy. These men had immense emotional intelligence, which I believe allowed them to govern with strength and compassion. Any leader ought to be able to understand the average citizen.
To Kill a Mocking Bird is one of my favorites, but as far as philosophy I recommend John Stuart Mill on Liberty.
The ability to see the other persons point of view with compassion and empathy even when you disagree. I also think the ability to compromise is key for legislative success.
Compassion, empathy, decisiveness, and thoughtful analysis.
The core responsibilities of an elected official are to serve their constituents and to pass legislation which helps the most amount of people possible.
I'd like to leave office having made this world a better and more inclusive one.
I remember vaguely watching the tv and seeing news footage of the Gulf War, but the first historical events I remember vividly were the 1994 Northridge Earth Quake, because I lived through it, and the Rwandan Genocide in 1994. I recall watching the news and seeing the footage of UN Troops.
I helped out at my grandfather's automotive shop in Los Angeles, but my first real paying job was working for the Vons grocery store in Studio City, a suburb of Los Angeles.
My favorite book is “Too Kill a Mockingbird”. There are many lessons in it, but my favorite one is not judging others.
Batman, because he seeks to be just in everything he does.
Most recently, I have been on a Chris Stapleton kick. My favorite song of his is Starting Over.
I was born with Moebius syndrome, which is basically the paralysis of facial muscles and nerves. While relatively not a huge disability, it does affect my speech,. Unfortunately, due to the speech impediment, I have faced discrimination.
Both should act as a check to the other. They should have a working relationship, and aim to work together where they can to improve the lives of all who live in South Carolina..
Smart growth, incentivizing the right industries to come to SC, and making sure public education gets better in the state.
I think it can help, but it should not be a requirement. Legislators should come from all walks of life, so that they can best represent the citizens of SC.
Legislation only gets passed when we work together, so legislators must have mutual respect for one another to get things of consequence done.
Yes, I believe emergency powers are necessary during times of turmoil, whether that be a devastating hurricane or economic depression.
My first bills would be education bills that address teacher burnout, teacher retention and creating ADA/IEP coordinator positions in every county in SC. Education is the great equalizer, and as a person who was born with a disability, I know early intervention and action is crucial for student success.
I am interested in the education committee as well as the elections committee.
These are key to foster the trust of the citizenry. Government only exists for the benefit of its people.
I am a fan of the initiative process, as it is a form of direct democracy where the electorate directly votes for or against something.
