|My wife and I are longtime residents of Rochester. Our children have grown up here. Over the years I have been involved with scouting, the Rochester Library Trustees, the Rochester Opera House and, most recently, the Rochester Historic District. I believe in fairness. I believe in fair funding for public schools. I believe in fair access to the vote. And I believe in fair treatment for reproductive rights After teaching high school in Virginia, our family returned to New England. I began work in the insurance industry in technology as a programmer, later as an analyst and project manager. I left to work briefly for a startup, which failed, I then spent the rest of my career commuting to Boston to work in banking.
- Public schools are critical for our future as a state. Our public schools are not perfect, but we need to support our schools and teachers. This means funding schools adequately and not siphoning off funds, through vouchers, for private schools. It also means that we should trust teachers to teach and not be hampered by laws which restrict the teaching of so-called “divisive concepts”. Students need to know both the good and the bad.
- Healthcare costs are rising and providers are disappearing. Government programs and support are critical. An important aspect of healthcare is reproductive rights. A woman's choice needs to be her choice, with the assistance of medical professionals and family.
- We should be encouraging people to vote, not making it more difficult. My parents were naturalized citizens. They found things in this country far better than in their native Ireland. They approached each election – no matter how small – as a sacred obligation. I learned that from them.
