Campaign website

Schaffer's campaign website stated the following:

The Truth

We are all aware of the enormous amount of lies, half truths, and fake news poisoning the citizens of our country. We all know that the career politicians have made a habit of telling us what they want us to hear rather than the truth. I will be honest, I’ll tell you the truth.

Military

As a proud veteran, I believe we need to grow our military, not shrink it. We must continually upgrade our systems and ensure readiness. As I learned in the Navy, “Power makes peace.” I support growing our military and upgrading systems.

Fiscal Responsibility

The United States Government has a spending problem. The current level of spending and the national debt are unsustainable. Send me to Congress and I will do all I can to re-establish fiscal responsibility in our nation’s capitol.

Immigration

Our borders need to remain safe and secure. I want to make the process more efficient for people to immigrate legally. We can do this by enforcing the current laws.

Congress

Congress needs to reform itself. Congress needs to follow the rules they make for the citizens, themselves. Congress can no longer exempt themselves from the rules and regulations they pass.

America First

President Donald Trump believed in the Constitution and America First. We need to continue on the same path.

Election

I support nation Voter ID laws and audits of all elections. These two actions will help ensure that our elections are fair, honest and have verifiable results.

Education

To prepare our next generation for success, we must focus on education. A strong focus on STEM will allow us to develop the next generation of successful workers. A re-focus on the trades that built this country will allow us to build it again while providing good jobs nationwide.

Second Amendment

I support the 2nd Amendment. Congress should not enact any laws that ban any firearm. Just like a driver’s license, a concealed carry permit from one state should be accepted by all other jurisdictions. I oppose Red Flag laws. Guns should not be taken from a person without probable cause or a warrant.

Family and Rights

I am a pro-family, traditional values conservative who believes the government should not be more involved than necessary in our daily lives. I believe people should be able to live whatever lifestyle they choose. I believe in, “your home, your life, your business.” While I will always vote to protect life, I don't believe that the government should be involved in personal medical decisions[1]
