Ballotpedia biographical submission form

The candidate completed Ballotpedia's biographical information submission form:

What is your political philosophy?

As State Treasurer, I will hold elected leaders accountable for their budget decisions. I will also work to ensure Iowa does not underfund its commitment to Medicaid, IPERS and the Peace Officers’ Retirement, Accident and Disability System. As State Treasurer, I will be the advocate for the taxpayers of Iowa. I will fight for the people of Iowa to ensure the greatest possible financial transparency of the State of Iowa. As your State Treasurer, I will be a champion for economic development, fighting for new and emerging export opportunities for Iowa’s agricultural and manufacturing sectors, and support efforts that create more job opportunities for all Iowans.

Is there anything you would like to add?

I grew up on a family farm in eastern Iowa where I learned the values of hard work, determination to succeed and the power of a positive vision. While serving as a member of the Ames City Council, I proudly fought for fiscal responsibility and worked to strengthen the economy by embracing pro-growth principles and encouraging public-private partnerships. I also served as a member of the Ames Economic Development Commission. Growing up, my parents instilled in me the importance of giving back to the community through volunteering. I’ve previously served on the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors and the Iowa Sports Foundation Board of Directors. Currently, I serve as chapter advisor for the Iowa State Chapter of Acacia Fraternity and am the past President of the International Council of Acacia International Fraternity, current Secretary of the ISU Greek Alumni Alliance, current Treasurer of Story County GOP and am also a member of the NRA and Farm Bureau.[5]

Davis' website highlighted the following campaign themes:[6]

A Strong Economy

  • Excerpt: "Jeremy believes that Iowa needs to support efforts that strengthen the economy and provide more job opportunities for Iowans. This is achieved by leaders who understand that real economic prosperity comes from hard work and innovation—not from government mandates. From research and development, along with technology transfer efforts at our flagship universities to the entrepreneurial spirit that makes our Country great, economic growth can occur in many facets."

A Strong Education

  • Excerpt: " Iowa must also provide increased access to educational opportunities for our youth—including enhanced access to community college coursework to allow students to meet their academic goals. Jeremy also supports initiatives that allow individual school districts to make decisions that impact them locally—at the local level."

A Strong Quality of Life

  • Excerpt: "He will work to support agriculture interests through protecting farmers from burdensome and excessive regulations while promoting a culture of conservation and stewardship in communities and on farms. We need to continue to encourage farmers to utilize science along with innovative technologies and techniques—not government regulations—to reduce environmental impact."
