While I admit I am new to running for political office, I already have a job that I have loved in healthcare as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the past 17 years, and nothing brings me greater joy than helping others, improving lives, and serving the community. As a former hospital clinical director for 8 years over many different clinical departments (ranging from cardiology to neurology to pulmonary, rehab, and many other clinical departments at the same time), I have met and cared for many local residents and learned to multi-task, delegate efficiently when needed, create cost savings, improve efficiency, add service lines, work and volunteer with the public, and manage tens of millions of dollars annually, with every year ending in surpluses due to being fiscally conservative, increasing productivity, eliminating waste, and working with others to find the best and most beneficial solutions. I did all this while improving patient satisfaction scores and health outcomes and also ranking in the top 95% nationally among all USA hospital systems with my staff as their leader through Press Ganey Surveys. I love helping others and leading others towards positive change by working with employees and residents together on proposed solutions. I am a former member of the Peru Rotary Club and the More for Miami Coalition as a healthcare representative, and I personally taught CPR for free on my weekends and BLS to thousands of local residents in Miami County.
  • I see so much untapped potential and hear wonderful ideas from local citizens that are not always brought up to local politicians, or if they are, then they are not always discussed in board meetings and are usually put on the back burner or dropped all together. Too often, we see people get elected by making promises to their constituents, and then once elected, many do not follow through on those promises and fail the very people who put them in office. It’s time for dysfunctional politics to change in both parties (Democratic and Republican), and for every politician (from local to national), to always remember that we are only in office for one reason: to represent the areas we are elected to represent and be the voice for our county.
  • In making public health policy for Miami County, I feel an actual medical professional on the Board of Commissioners is extremely important to help explain from decades of hands-on clinical experience and advanced knowledge what would work and what is a waste of time. As we all experienced the recent COVID-19 pandemic and its fallout from 2020–2023, and now Fentanyl overdoses in our community, having a county commissioner with a vast background in advanced healthcare with many specialists and physicians on call, my many years of experience with public health policy as well as healthcare administration would be a huge asset to have on the board to help with decision-making relating to community health issues.
  • It’s time to promote and restore our county's rich cultural history, small local businesses, public school systems, and historical landmarks and homes, while also bringing in more businesses (besides dollar stores, vape shops, gas stations, etc.) that will allow our citizens of Miami County to finally shop local instead of having to drive to other cities or go online all the time for shopping, while also creating more jobs for local residents, more tax revenue from increased businesses, and more options available locally for our citizens. Thank you, and God bless.
Economic growth, public safety, restoring and preserving our heritage, public health and ensuring stable growth for our population while leaving nobody behind. Discussing issues that actually matter with my constituents and working to improve their lives by being their elected representative and their voice in office and at board meetings is something I am really looking forward to doing, and I am extremely passionate about making their lives easier, safer, and happier with an improved quality of life for District 2. I love a challenge, and I love finding solutions to difficult problems and implementing the actions needed while using common sense to achieve our goals as a county. I am fiscally conservative and socially moderate.
This office is very important to the county and city of Peru as Commissioners oversee the management and administration of the county, represent county interests at the state and federal levels, participate in long-range planning, and managing the county budget and finances and hold meetings to listen to the concerns and ideas of citizens who should be listened to and encouraged to participate.
My Grandma Mason and my Mom. My grandmother is now passed away, but she always taught us to love God and family, and to treat others the way that we would like to be treated. This has been instilled in me since birth, and it has shaped me into who I am today. My mom has always Taught my sister and I that we want some in life. We have to work hard for it and earn it. She led by example along with my father and also taught us to treat everyone with respect grateful for living in such a great country. Without my mom and grandmother and their love and devotion, I would not be who I am today nor a successful as I have been.
I’m an old school Democrat that believes in America first and supporting the working class and promoting capitalism while standing up for our county, its laws and learning from history without erasing it. I’m not far left and I’m not far right. I’m a normal American citizen who wants to see our county, state and country prosper while promoting safety and bettering oneself through hard work and determination to succeed in life.
Transparency, honesty, not being a career politician with outsider influence, actual business experience in the private sector, common sense and straight forward answers, active involvement in the community, public safety and ensuring tax payer funds are spent using conservative fiscal responsibility that benefit the citizens and their wants, needs and growth.
I am great with budgets and cost saving measures, have a decade of leadership in high ranking Healthcare job positions, Believe in speaking the truth, even when sometimes it hurts, and my willingness to work with anybody and treat others with respect while being a great listener, stressful situations as opportunities to succeed.
Being accountable, open and honest with transparency, fiscal responsibility and listening to everyone from both sides of an argument while working with others in any party for the benefit of the public and tax payers. Being able to put partisan politics aside and being there for the sole reason of
Improving the quality of life for citizens is especially important. I’m not a radical Democrat and and down to earth and able to work with anyone and don’t care if you are a Democrat or Republican. It’s time for both sides to come together and follow the constitution and laws of the land to benefit American citizens and their needs first.
Any legacy that leaves Miami County and Peru in a place to where citizens are prospering, health is improving, businesses are coming in and creating jobs, and transparency and honesty about finances and spending in a smart and conservative manner are achieved will be amazing. Also, I would like to show that outsiders with the passion to make positive change in their communities can enter politics and make a difference. Politics should not be a lifelong career and getting citizens more involved with our county and voting should hopefully inspire other political “outsiders” to join in.
September 11, 2001. I was a sophomore in high school and will never forget that day. I remember explicitly being on the football field for practice at my high school and my dad coming and canceling practice saying we need to get home and be with our families. Life changed for every American citizen after that date and it should never be forgotten.
I bagged groceries at a little grocery store in Lake Station, Indiana in high school before working at Abercrombie and Fitch and did this for 6 years throughout high school and my first college experience gaining my Associates Degree for Respiratory Therapy.
1984 by George Orwell. It warns us of what too much governmental control can lead to and is a warning of what unfettered appeasement and lack of morals can lead to.
This is a hard one, but I guess Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. I’d like to say Deadpool but he’s not exactly the best role model.
Like A Prayer by Madonna and Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do.
I have Wilson’s Disease and have had to take medication daily and see specialists since I was a teen to stay healthy and prevent liver failure and transplant. Seeing my sister go through this and be so strong has made me appreciate that if you don’t have health then you really don’t have anything.
There are a few that I think citizens should be aware of including; Approving the county budget and establishing the local tax rates, approving budgets and purchases, authorizing payrolls and salaries and benefits, maintaining and keeping the bridges, roads and county infrastructure safe and functional and maintaining county facilities including the library and museum among other locations.
No. While sometimes previous experience in politics is an asset, those who have been in office too long often forget that they serve at the pleasure of the people and lose touch with who they are there to serve.
Financial management, leadership experience, healthcare experience, community service and involvement and success in business and in making common sense decisions in stressful situations.
Can’t think of any, not good with jokes.
Miami County Democrats, Miami Counties Women Democrats and friends, family and my spouse.
If you are not transparent then you are not being open and honest to your constituents. Transparency is paramount to democracy and EVERY government official should be held accountable for their actions, votes and be willing to listen to every citizen and their wants, concerns and plans. We are the voice of our constituents and should always remember we serve our citizens first and always.
