My higher education was completed right here in District 19B at Minnesota State University, Mankato. My studies included a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with minors in both Public Administration and Sociology. During my time at Minnesota State, I served on the Minnesota State Student Association's Election Commission in 2017, and the Student Affairs Committee in 2018. During the 2017-2018 academic year, I was an intern for Students United, an organization that advocates for over 70,000 students within the Minnesota State System on a campus, state, and federal level for higher education policies that ultimately sustained a positive impact for both students and their surrounding communities. That same year I participated in an effort by Students United where we walked 100 miles from Mankato to Saint Paul to raise awareness for higher education policies while starting the conversation on public funding. Lastly, I was fortunate to be part of the Affirmative Consent Policy that was ultimately implemented across every state college and university within the Minnesota State System. The passage of this policy gave us the recognition of the National Campus Leadership Council in 2018.
  • Something I've always prided myself on is my ability to have a conversation with those who disagree with me. It has remained an important feature because it provides learning experiences for everyone involved while earning mutual respect. Something people notice about me is that I love talking to people within the community and building relationships. I value the opinions of others and discovering the reasoning behind their current thoughts and beliefs. We need to unite Minnesota, not pull it apart. I believe in One Minnesota.
  • I firmly believe that big government intrudes on individual liberty. I am a strong advocate for the right to bear arms as stated in the Second Amendment. I believe in a free market and the ability to choose your own healthcare. I promise to never raise your taxes.
  • Something that separates me from my Republican colleagues is my ability to meet in the middle on hot ticket items. I very much pride myself in being a center-lined moderate. Fresh out of college, I will advocate for higher education affordability because our nation's youth are the future economy of tomorrow. The work that I've done to promote higher education speaks for itself. I vow that if elected, your voices will be heard! I will advocate for not just the members of my party, but my entire constituency. To me, it doesn't matter if you vote democrat or republican. What matters is your voice is heard and corrective action is taken.
The areas of public policy that I'm passionate about are law enforcement reform, congressional term limits, higher education affordability, Second Amendment protections, limited executive action, removal of omnibus bills, campaign finance laws, lowering taxes for the middle class and below, and ending the corruption within the Department of Human and Health Services.
I believe that my capability to have a fruitful conversation with someone holding opposing political views speaks volumes. Being able to learn from each other and even meet in the middle is something that we seldom see in partisan politics today. If you ask any of my colleagues, they will often assert that I search for an opposing view, so I am able to appreciate why one might see things through a different lens. Seeking opinions from others creates an opportunity for both sides to bargain and ultimately reach a bipartisan conclusion.
Our nation was built upon a system, including equal representation. This means that as a body, we elect representatives to govern for us. I believe that the core responsibilities for an elected official fall upon their constituents. This remains true regardless of party affiliation, and every voice deserves to be heard and acted upon. I genuinely believe that equal representation within our governing bodies is not occurring, which prompted my campaign and the assertion of congressional term limits.
My longtime favorite book has remained to be Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. As a child, and even into adulthood, I've always loved escaping into the wilderness. Whether it was camping, hunting, or fishing, I have always adored time spent in the outdoors. In this fiction, thirteen-year-old Bryan was on his way to Canada in a small bush plane when the piolet suffered a heart attack. Bryan was forced to crash land the plane into a remote Canadian lake. This is a fascinating tale of survival and transformation that primed me to become more of an advocate of our globe's natural recourses.

I do not believe that it is beneficial for individuals considering public office to have previous experience within the government, or even the political system. The framers of our constitution developed a system of government that was built upon the idea of equal representation. If we require individuals to have prior experience within our governing body, to me that contradicts the aforementioned statement. I believe in term limits in both the state and federal legislature, ensuring new voices are continually heard.
I am most definitely interested in pursuing higher political office. While it is not my intention to pose a career in the political realm, I do believe that achieving higher office allows your message to travel further.
