I am dedicated to strategic systems change. We in 63B understand that climate change is real, that our education achievement gaps across demographic groups do not reflect our values, and that the institutionalized racism that exists in our system must be dismantled. Transforming our systems so that they reflect our values will be my mission as the representative for 63B.
  • We must close our worst-in-the-nation achievement gaps. Education is the number one driver of socioeconomic equity. When we invest in education we are also investing in racial justice.
  • Climate change is real and Minnesotans deserve a comprehensive strategy for drawing down our carbon emissions and preserving our natural resources from exploitation.
  • Our public safety system must be reformed. The Minnesota Legislature should not block civilian review boards from effectively conducting oversight of the police nor should it restrict cities from offering preferential treatment to law enforcement candidates that live in the city where they serve.
Climate Change - Disparities in our Education System - Wealth Inequality - Public Health - Public Safety - Housing - Immigration
I look up to the long line of people who have fought for social equality in America. For centuries there have been people who were bullied, whipped, lynched, fire-hosed, attacked by dogs, assassinated - but still people fought on. I admire anyone who acts within their sphere of influence to bring about a more equitable world.
Integrity - The ability to think critically - The ability to think and act strategically - Long-term solutions planning
I would like to leave behind a comprehensive strategy that guides us through our climate crisis, a legacy of enabling communities to be allies in the fight for racial equity, and a generation of future legislators and leaders that are able to successfully guide communities and states through strategic challenges.
The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson.
The book's narrative structure empowers people who have been through traumatic experiences to bring about positive change in their communities and their world in the face of an existential crisis.
The world's greatest challenge now is Climate Change and it will continue to be so over the next decade. Until we create a green economy that discourages the exploitation of our natural resources then we will only continue to exacerbate and prolong our climate challenge.
