Jerry Dyer is the Mayor of Fresno in California. He assumed office on January 5, 2021. His current term ends in 2029.
Dyer won re-election for Mayor of Fresno in California outright in the primary on March 5, 2024, after the general election was canceled.
The office of mayor is nonpartisan. In May 2019, Dyer told The Fresno Bee that he was a Republican.[1]
Biography
Dyer was born in Fresno, California. He graduated from California State University, Fresno with a bachelor's degree in criminology and from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, with a master’s degree in management. Dyer's career background includes working in the Fresno Police Department for 40 years. During his tenure, he held the positions of lieutenant, captain, deputy chief, assistant chief of police, and chief of police. At the time of his election as mayor, Dyer was the department's longest-serving police chief.[2][3]
